To make a gallon (4.5 litres) of feed you need 4Kg (8 to 9 pounds) of granulated white sugar. (Do not use brown sugars as they are harmful to bees). Mark a gallon on a suitable container then add a few pints of hot water. To this gradually add the sugar, stirring as you go. Then add cold water up to the gallon mark. Continue to stir until there are no more sugar crystals present. The solution should have a slight viscosity and be light straw in colour.
